& my favorite strangers <3
So, I got this app called Tellonym a while back along with two of my besties and we’ve all three been using it since. It’s basically where anyone can ask you questions anonymously– I know, I know, it might be a little sketch sometimes, but most of the questions are really tame. Love strangers <3. Anyways, I got the following.
First off, I put so much effort into that answer, so I really hope it helped that person. Being stressed and overloaded is something I know far too well; I’m constantly picking up new things, and because of my lovely people pleasing skills, I only know how to say yes. Hence, my incredibly busy schedule. :D
My advice for that person, I wish, was something I would do too. Could I ever bring myself to hit pause on everything and just live in the moment with myself? I do the planning thing, but recently, I haven’t been taking the first part seriously. I don’t do what I preach.
It was so hypocritical of me. I know I just want to help by giving advice in situations like these because I do know self care. I do know that I should take some time to respect and treat myself. But, I just can’t bring myself to.
I saw some post on Instagram yesterday talking about how self care isn’t just taking a bath or watching tv while worrying about the bajillion things you have to do. Then, what is it?
So, how do I avoid burnout then, if I’m not even practicing self care properly? Well, I don’t. I feel burnt out right now, actually. Eventually it gets to a point that I just stop for a weekend and do nothing but lay in bed. It’s actually very refreshing. But then, I get up and realize I have a bajillion MORE things to do. :D
As usual though, me being all about personal growth, I’m trying to learn from my mistakes. I’m trying to carve out time to think about nothing or go on an adventure. I’m trying to love myself more for who I am, my skin and all. Self care is important, and avoiding it isn’t going to bring any good. Self care isn’t “hippie” and it isn’t “lame”. It’s essential. And you should do it too.
Thanks for reading!
